Ein kleines Büchlein voll mit Paarkonstellationen, wie sie (hoffentlich) in keiner Beziehung vorkommen, aber einen vielleicht gerade deshalb zum Lachen bringen. Kostprobe gefällig? Untertitel: Wenn Männer träumen. Er öffnet die Tür, sie steht davor und sagt: Ich hab gehört, du kannst sehr melodisch rülpsen! Ich will sofort mit dir schlafen! Desweiteren geht es um mit Kühen betrogene Ehefrauen, Sandmännchen mit Eierlikör, tanzende Elefanten. Manches ist bös oder etwas makaber, anderes völlig skurril.
Das Alles im typischen Flix-Stil, Figuren mit häufig großen Mündern und auf jeden Fall großen Füßen. Eine prächtige Geschenkidee für jemanden, der/die einem nahesteht.

It is the first Sandman series in which the Endless play the main role. Delirium, Dreams sister, longs for her brother Destruction, who has left the family of the Endless 300 years ago - no one knows where he is. After Desire and Despair refused helping delirium in her search, she turns to Dream, who will surprisingly stand by her. However due to selfish reasons: Just left from his beloved, he is hoping to think of other things and maybe, in secrete, to meet her once again ...
I have to admit, that this Sandman series left me behind with mixed feelings. On the one hand it is a story that is unique to sense and serious thoughts about the uniqueness and finality of life in this form, on the other hand there are so many references to previous volumes, that I am constantly asked myself, what was happening before, who are these persons, don’t I know them, etc. Unfortunately, between my readings of each book there are longer periods and not all is still present, so I think my reading experience was significantly diminished. Otherwise, the drawings are awesome as always, with some of them are almost be described as paintings.
All in all, great reading material, but if possible, just read it in conjunction with the preceding books. And I, I have to read it again ;-)

Aaahhh, ist das doof ;-) ! Eigentlich denkt man ja bei einem Comicband, dass man ihn ratzfatz durchgelesen haben müsste. Aber falsch gedacht: Da es auf einer Seite immer mindestens vier Bildchen zum Anschauen und Lesen gibt, ist man nach 10 bis 15 Seiten einfach erschlagen, so abstrus und herrlich doof wie die sind. Neben den einzelnen Cartoons zieht sich auch noch eine richtige Geschichte durch diesen Band: Der Pudel des Todes übernimmt für einen Tag den Job des Todes - was natürlich genauso schräg und wunderbar blöd ist wie die Einzelbilder. Wer schwarzen Humor mag, völlig unsinnige Stories, liebevoll gezeichnete Lemminge, Tiere mit menschlichen Verhaltensweisen ist mit diesem Buch bestens bedient. Einfach schön gezeichneter Nonsens pur - und die volle Punktzahl gibt es von mir nur deshalb nicht, weil für mich einige wenige Bilder so schräg waren, dass ich sie nicht verstanden habe (trotz mehrfachen Lesens).

Even The Lord of Dreams is not without fail. And so he has to admit, it has been a mistake to damn a young woman into hell, who rejected to stay with him to all eternity. So he sets of to hell to unchain and to release her, being prepared that it will be a quite difficult problem. And thus it happended, but entirely different than he has imagined...
Great, a 'Sandman-book' again with a continuous story, which also refers to former books. It's exciting and the chronicle stimulates thinking about the existence of hell: How would it be without hell? What would be about heaven? And what about all the unfortunate souls?
It's a fantastic story with a surprising twist, which in my opinion slides a little bit too much towards Happy-End. Someway I have imagined the solution will be more dramatic. But maybe this depends on the other books I've read in the weeks before. Too many bloodthirsty thrillers :-)
The drawings are - like always - exceptional good, so you really sink into the atmosphere of this book. Great stuff!

Sandman Vol. III is composed of four stories, which have nothing to do with each other except their theme - dreaming. Maybe that's one of the reasons why this book is not in the same way fascinating than the first two ones. Also some of the tales are not that impressive: The cats dreaming is enjoyable - but no more. And the Shakespeare-story is more puzzling than awe-inspiring or entertaining. However this could also be due to my poor command of English :-) Anyway, the drawings are still inspiring and I'm looking forward for the next volume.

Pünktlich zum Fest präsentiert Ralph Ruthe nach 10 Jahren endlich mal wieder ein Weihnachts-Special, das zwischen den andern Bücherstapeln wie eine Weihnachtskugel in einem Blauton hervorglänzt.

In den meisten Cartoons stehen Rentier und Weihnachtsmann plötzlich ganz und gar menschlichen Problemen gegenüber (Hausordnung, Allergien, Partnersuche, Spielsucht undundund), aber Ruthe wirft auch einen Blick auf das Heilige Fest durch die Augen von Bibern, Bäumen, Fliegen und anderen Gestalten. Seine Einfälle sind größtenteils originell und witzig, allerdings nicht so richtig böse. Das Buch ist somit bestens auch für Weihnachtsliebhaberinnen und -liebhaber geeignet, die sich über die 64 Seiten sicherlich amüsieren werden.

Mein persönlicher Favorit ist übrigens der Bielefeld-Gag, der tatsächlich auch hier seinen Platz gefunden hat.

Neil Gaiman was known to me first as a children's book author, before I came into contact with his novels through a friend. I was enthusiastic and so came to the Sandman series, which did not disappoint likewise.
A megalomaniacal cult leader tried to capture death, but instead ends up Dream, The Sandman in his captivity. People feel that something strange is going on, but no one is aware why. After a seemingly endless time The Sandman manages to escape and he begins to search for his gear ...
The story is a wonderful melange of reality and mysticism, fantasy at its best, soon you realize how incredibly important for everybody individual dreams are. The accompanying images drawn in a congenial way simply to designate as a comic is a gross understatement. These are incredibly detailed pictures, down to the last tiny precise which exactly reflect the atmosphere and the content of the text. Some of the drawings could almost be described as paintings. I'm looking forward to the next books I will read and view in any case.
With all the enthusiasm, why not the full score? Some of the stories seemed a little too intendendly, the inclusion of all the superheroes, for example. But eventually these are only trifles...:-)

22 Seiten von Erich Rauschenbach und 24 Seiten von Peter Butschkow mal mehr, mal weniger gelungene Comics zum Thema Sport. Keine Sportart wird ausgelassen, ob Sprint, Gewichtheben, Kraft- oder Ausdauertraining, hier kriegt jede/r sein/ihr Fett weg :-)
Ganz nett für zwischendurch.

96 Seiten Garfield satt - auf einer Seite ein Comic-Strip, auf der gegenüberliegenden eine großformatige Zeichnung von Garfield mit einem für ihn typischen Ausspruch ('Katzen sind einfach kleine Leute mit Fell und Fängen' oder 'Alles schmeckt gut, wenn man auf Diät gesetzt ist').
