This is a collection of Sue Townsend´s monthly columns for Sainsbury´s Magazine. I have read 73 out of 89, most of them in the bathroom. Ms Townsend told me in the introduction to this book that she had to deliver an 800-words-column per month, and that´s exactly the problem I had with it. Most of the stories don´t have a point, or they have more than one point - you always have the impression that the author wrote some of that stuff (like, let´s say, 400 of the required 800 words) just to comply with the publisher´s requirements . And above all, it is not funny stuff. It might be wise or true or nice, but it´s not funny. So if you are a middle aged woman, and if it makes you feel good that a famous author has problems with her eye sight or last minute Christmas shopping or the fact that times are changing, then you might enjoy this book. If you are looking for funny, witty entertainment - read something else.
