Rezension zu "Of Thimble and Threat: A Novel of Catherine Eddowes, the Fourth Victim of Jack the Ripper (Jack the Ripper Victims)" von Alan M. Clark
I read a translated edition of this book some time ago, and while it gave a compelling account of a woman's life in Victorian London, the sometimes faulty and inapt translation left a lot to be desired. Therefore, I was determined to reread the book in its original voice, and I'm very glad I did just that. The writing was smooth and haunting, bringing to life the sad, cold, bleak and filthy atmosphere of those past times perfectly. Highest recommendation!
