Roman and Elisabeth are married and happy . They wanted more, to start a family. They struggled with infertility for many years. They even tried vitro fertilization and Elisabeth got pregnant, but their happiness was short lived- their son died within an hour of being born. Both of them were lost and damaged. They didn’t know how to properly communicate with the other, so their marriage ended.
Two years later Roman and Elisabeth paths cross again when they are forced by certain circumstances to see each other again.
I liked Elisabeth and Roman. I felt the chemistry, love, heartbreak, and hope through the book. Elisabeth is an amazing, strong and resilient woman. Roman is protecting and caring, who will do anything for the woman who loves and cares about.
There is also another couple in this story. During this book, it's mainly just Clare who is a young mother to a little daughter named Tessa. Clare is in physically abusive marriage .
Aly Martinez delivered a fascinating story which has just a little bit of everything – romance, suspense and mystery.
I cannot wait to read part two of the duet (The Transfer) to find out the conclusion of the whole story.
