Nachdem Emery, Lex Heiratsantrag angenommen hat und ihn bat ein paar Tage auf ihn zu warten, ist ein Jahr vergangen. Lex hat in dieser Zeit nichts mehr von Emery gehört. Durch einen Zufall treffen sie sich wieder und Lex erfährt, das Emery durch einen Unfall sein Gedächtnis verloren hat und er sich an die letzten drei Jahre seines Lebens nicht mehr erinnern kann. Anfangs glaubt Lex ihm nicht. Da er nie aufgehört hat ihn zu lieben, fasst er den Entschluss ihn zurückzuerobern. 

Ich habe die Geschichte von Lex und Emery in einem Rutsch gelesen, da ich sie nicht aus der Hand legen konnte. Mit einem Gedächtnisverlust fertig zu werden, stelle ich mir schwierig vor. Wenn man neue Leute trifft, weiß man nie ob man sich schon begegnet ist und wie es gelaufen ist. Ana Ashley beschreibt diese Schwierigkeiten für mich auch schlüssig. Es wird auch gezeigt das nicht alle Eltern mitfühlend und verständnisvoll reagieren, sondern ein Unglück ausnutzen um ihren Willen zu bekommen.

Dieses Buch kann ich nur allen empfehlen die gerne Gay-Romance lesen. Ich habe es über KU gelesen, die Printversion hat ca. 300 Seiten.

This book is the excellent start to a new series. The story is set in a small town in Vermont, where Sebastian returns. Sebastian is a famous rock star who now wants to help his father on the farm. At home, he meets his neighbor Taylen, the little brother of his deceased friend. I found both characters likable and endearing. They each have their own way of dealing with their grief over Taylen's brother, who was also Sebastian's best friend.

I enjoyed both the small-town atmosphere and the farm setting with all the interesting animals. And the two get creative when it comes to gifts for each other, because a rooster that crows very early every morning is a fantastic gift, don't you think? At least that's what Sebastian thinks, and I agree, but Taylen's dark circles are getting darker every day. And anyway, Taylen isn't particularly thrilled about Sebastian's return, as long-suppressed feelings are reawakened and who knows how long Sebastian will stay this time? Look forward to lots of crazy and interesting animals, an enemies-to-lovers story, and a happy ending. It took me a while as a reader to feel the chemistry between the two characters, but that doesn't matter. The story was entertaining, with an age gap, and the two were already cute together.

Alexander Cendese does an excellent job of narrating. His voice is pleasant to listen to, he conveys the emotions well, and he does the story absolute justice. I'm already looking forward to the next volume in the series.

I love the Spencer brothers series and I'm almost a little sad that it's coming to an end. You can read “The Forstered Promise” as a standalone, but I recommend reading the Spencer brothers series first, because that's where Drew and West make their first appearances.
If you love best friends to lovers stories, this is the one for you. Drew has been in love with West forever and has been sneaking around West for a while, but he doesn't have the guts to make the first move. Yes, the story is slow burn, but it's well done and yet at times I found myself itching to nudge the two of them. Because apparently everyone knows about their feelings, except them. West and Drew are likeable characters whose story I was looking forward to. I really like them and I enjoyed the development of their relationship.

As always, Alexander Cendese did a great job narrating the audiobook. He has a pleasant voice and reads vividly. It was a pleasure to listen to him!
