Nachdem ihre Freundin im Wald verloren gegangen ist, möchte Cassie gemeinsam mit zwei Freunden alles tun, um sie wiederzufinden. Doch sie bleibt verschollen und stattdessen stoßen sie auf eine seltsame Hütte im Wald. In einem geheimen Keller darunter verbirgt sich ein lebensgroßes Puppenhaus und wer es betritt, schafft es nie wieder heraus ...

Meine Meinung:

Die Geschichte konnte mich von der ersten Seite an fesseln und ich war mit Cassie und ihren Freunden einsam und verloren mitten im Wald. Man merkt wie die Spannung Seite für Seite zunimmt und bis zum Ende hin aufrecht erhalten wird. Es gibt auch so einige Gänsehautstellen und die Geschichte konnte mich immer wieder überraschen.

Am allerbesten hat mir die Szenerie gefallen! Dieses ganze Puppenhaus und die Hütte an sich ist einfach sooo gut beschrieben, dass allein das für eine Gänsehaut beim Lesen sorgte! Allein die Idee mit dem Puppenhaus: Einfach wow!

Die Charaktere wachsen einem auch total schnell ans Herz und auch für Lovestory-Fans ist in der Story gesorgt! Man fiebert mit den Charakteren mit und verzweifelt doch gemeinsam mit ihnen, wenn alles auswegslos erscheint.

Mein einziger Kritikpunkt ist, dass die Geschichte am Ende von Band 1 etwas nachlässt und nach meinem Geschmack plötzlich etwas zu viele Fantasy-Elemente auftauchen. Dennoch bin ich megagespannt auf Band 2 und ich hoffe sehr, dass dieser ganze Fantasy-Anteil mir nach und nach vielleicht doch noch gefallen wird :)

Tolle Mischung aus Spannung, Horror & Fantasy!

Four teenagers take a long hiking trip through the wilderness for a school project: Cassie, Aisha, Lacey and Ethan. Cassie has a hard time taking her eyes of Ethan, whom she is madly in love with... The only problem with that is that he's Aisha's boyfriend. Tensions rise between the four, and after an argument, Aisha storms off on her own - and disappears.

What has happened to her? Has she met with an accident, has somebody kidnapped her? Soon, the police is combing through the forrest with increasing urgency, but without success. People start suspecting wild boy Ethan of killing his girlfriend... But why would he do that?

The three remaining friends take matters into their own hands. They expect to find Aisha dead somewhere, and maybe a clue to what happened to her. Little do they know that their investigation is going to lead them straight into a bizarre nightmare that they could never have imagined.

What starts out as a woeful portrayal of the aftermath of a young girl's disappearance turns into a creepy, haunting story that will keep you turning the pages, biting your nails. I didn't read the reviews before I read the book, so the twist caught me entirely by surprise... What really impressed me is how the author managed to create such a stunning tale of horror without gore or excessive violence. I will definitely read the rest of the trilogy!

The first book already kept me glued to my Kindle screen, but the second drew me in even more firmly - I couldn't stop reading until I reached the end!

I don't want to spoil the story for you, so I'll just say this: there are unexpected, thrilling developments that took me completely by surprise, and yet the twists never felt forced or implausible. Past and present intertwine, adding layers after layers of meaning and insight to an already complex story - it's amazing how completely original and fresh this is, not comparable to any other book I've read!

If you liked the first book but are hesitant to buy the second - don't be, it's an amazing read!
