I am a fan of stories with men in uniform and I was delighted when I discovered this book. B.H. Lynn manages to tell the story of Adam and Caleb in such a way that I was very quickly captivated by the story. Once I started reading, I almost couldn't put the book down as I was desperate to find out what happened next. The only downer is the ending, because this story ends with a cliffhanger and I still had a few unanswered questions, which I hope will be answered in the next volume.
I very quickly took Adam and Caleb to my heart. They both have a heartbreaking story, just each in a different way. Adam lives in a toxic and unhappy marriage and is constantly manipulated by his husband. He finds it difficult to break out of the relationship. Then Adam is transferred to another city and meets his new partner, Caleb, who hasn't always been well-disposed but is trying to make the best of it. And Caleb scratches at Adam's high walls. Can he bring them down?
In addition to the fascinating MCs, the case of the murdered principal was no less fascinating. The author skillfully scattered various pieces of the puzzle that needed to be solved. Suspects were interrogated, there were many details to discover and so Adam and Caleb slowly uncover the true culprit. As a reader, I really enjoyed watching the two of them investigate.
An interesting criminal case and characters with whom I was rooting for made this book an absolute pleasure to read.
