Splinter, Chess and Box are orphans, living on the street. They are siblings with no imagination of the time before they were left at the Elms Orphanage years ago. It was on a Tuesday when they were left on the doorsteps and that’s why they were called the Tuesdays. Chess, an eleven year old girl and her brothers Splinter and Box, both fourteen They are twins but couldn’t be more different. Splinter, a tall, intelligent and truely conscious young boy, always a little bit cold and distant to the rest of the world. Box, always hungry and questioning everything, called fly head by his loving brother. So they are street rats, no one in the city likes the children who are living on the street, stealing and hiding in dark places. One day the hunters, kind of police troops, storm the wharf where Chess an her brothers and many other street rats live. The hunters take all of them and the story begins. There are two powerful oponents, the Twisted Symmetry and the Committee. And there is little Chess, apparently the one and only to help the Committee fight against the Twisted Symmetry. Funny, because no one, besides an old mysterious lady believes in the uniqueness of Chess. „Children are disappearing everywhere – and the Tuesdays are next“ thats the subtitel of the first book „The Bad Tuesdays: Twisted Symmetry“ by Benjamin J. Myers. Myers wrote a story between mystery and science. There is a little bit of „Matrix“, „the Golden Compass“ and „Oliver Twist“ and he combines these ingredients very well. The story is written powerfully and gripping. And their story continues…I want to know what happens next! „Strange energy“ - already ordered.
