"Welcome to Cemetery" is a slow-burn thriller which introduces us to the town of Cemetery, its weird inhabitants and its dark secrets. A missing person, a mutilated body and more missing people lead police officers Abby Williams and Ed Reyes on a trail of deception and depravity which roots deep in the town's past. While I enjoyed the clever plot (okay, a supernatural twist would have been nice, but probably to obvious), the story-telling was very slow and only took up speed towards the end, with a couple of unncessary sideshows and stray paths I could have lived without. Abby was too grumpy and unfriendly to immediately like her, but by the end of the book I was definitely rooting for team Abby and Ed to kick some bad ass. Overall, it this story is a succeeded beginning with the potential to grow into a very original series. So if I say I would like to visit the not so idyllic Cemetery again some time soon, I only dare so the bookish way.
