This was no accident… Haunting, compelling, this psychological thriller will have you hooked. Perfect for fans of Gone Girl and Daughter. I know your name’s not really Jane Hughes . . . Jane Hughes has a loving partner, a job in an animal sanctuary and a tiny cottage in rural Wales. She’s happier than she’s ever been but her life is a lie. Jane Hughes does not really exist. Five years earlier Jane and her then best friends went on holiday but what should have been the trip of a lifetime rapidly descended into a nightmare that claimed the lives of two of the women. Jane has tried to put the past behind her but someone knows the truth about what happened. Someone who won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Jane and everything she loves . . .

Reminded me of "The Beach"... very gripping indeed.

    The Lie

"The Lie" tells the story of Jane Hughes - who isn't really Jane Hughes but Emma Woolfe, one of four friends who went to Nepal together. A trip which was meant to be the adventure of their lifetime and turned out to be their worst nightmare... We start off in the present time, as Emma - now Jane - receives a mysterious letter, signalling that somebody knows about her secret and her true identity. In flashbacks we gradually learn what had happened to Emma and her friends Al, Leanne and Daisy, who embarked on a trip to Nepal together in order to help Al get over her broken heart. They planned to stay in a hippie retreat called Ekanta Yatra, which turned out to be much more captivating than just a gathering of free spirited people. Their leader, Isaac, turns out to be some kind of control freak who loves to manipulate people and play mind games with them. He turns the four girls against each other pushes it so far that only two of the girls return to the UK. "The Lie" is gripping and thrilling and definitely keeps the reader on their toes. The end is slightly predictable, but by then one is so into it, it doesn't really matter. It's definitely more than just a good read!
