A new job, a new city, and hopefully a new life. When chubby gamer Oliver Barnaby receives a job offer from the best boutique game developer in the country, he leaves his family and his less than spectacular existence in Oklahoma without a second’s hesitation. Determined to change more than his career and his geography, Oliver implements a plan to finally land a boyfriend. Step one is improving his skills in the bedroom. A life that looks perfect on paper, but feels empty in reality. Attractive, successful, charismatic Jaime Snow has a life other people envy. His already booming business is growing. He isn’t lacking in friends. And he has no trouble finding a date. But there’s an emptiness in Jaime’s heart and a hole in his life that only the right man can fill. An accidental meeting, a misunderstanding, and falling in love. When Oliver and Jaime end up at the same bar at the same time, they each see something they want in the other. Going to bed together that first night is easy. Building the lifetime relationship they both desperately crave will require trust, time, and a little misunderstanding.

Kurzmeinung: Very adorable, sweet couple. Tackles weight and self-esteem issues with maturity and patience. Low angst, low drama.
Sweet, slow romance with a twist

Oliver just moved to Seattle for a new job. He's shy, reclusive and didn't date much and now he wants to change that, too. Since he feels his sexual inexperience is a major strike against him, together with his weight and looks, he's hired an escort to teach him some tricks.
Jamie sees the prefect guy for him at a bar, but when he tries to chat him up, he finds himself confused for an escort. But Oliver's adorably shy confessions draw him in and he decides to play along instead of clearing up the mistake.

Oh, this is just so adorable. I didn't realize how similar it`s to Professional Distance, which I only just finished, but that's ok, this one is more sweet and slow.

So, the secret twist (which is really not all that secret, or much of a twist, since it gets telegraphed pretty strongly from chapter one) takes a bit of suspension of disbelieve, but everything else is just perfect, hot adorkableness.

I just love the MCs. Oliver is shy, dorky and awkward, but he's pretty funny when he comes out of his shell. I felt bad for him but could very much relate to his low self-esteem and body issues.
He just can't believe Jamie is actually attracted to him as he is, because it's so ingrained in him, that Jamie's body type is the "right" one. But Jamie is so understanding, loving and patient.

And I adored them together. Oliver is really thoughtful and puts himself out there for Jamie, and Jamie tries very hard to make Oliver feel wanted, included and comfortable. They are just so damn perfect together is nearly sickeningly sweet. But only nearly. I do like sweet, after all. ;)

There's plenty sex in the book, especially in the beginning, but it's all rather slow, explorative, with lots of talking thrown in. Oliver is not a virgin per se but he has very little experience and they take it pretty slow. I thought it was still really hot, though. Oliver is very much into taste and smell. Maybe some find that a bit gross, I can relate, so it worked for me.

I thought the twist actually went on a bit longer than it should have, but I was very happy there was not a big, dumb blowup (not that it would be unreasonable, really, I just don't enjoy them in romance). Both guys acted really maturely about it, which is rare, but good.
