This novel makes use of a promising approach!
There is not a lot of popular literature out there on characters dealing with their attraction in the way this one does. It plays with the doubts of the main character fairly well as he finds himself attracted to a girl who works next door, as well as his best mate. However, the novel could've done with some clarification that being attracted to more than one kind of people, be it via pansexuality or bisexuality, doesn't necessarily mean that this person will have several partners simultaneously. I firmly believe that this would have made for a better version of this book, because as it is, this novel is playing into persistent stereotypes.
The characters in the story are well-defined, though some lenghths could have been cut since they are not necessary to move the story forward. Or maybe the methodology was so subtle it escaped my notice. Either way, I occasionally kept asking myself why this or that information made its way into the story. What I found myself missing instead, is a more detailed ending. The ending is an open one. However, it ends so abruptly I found it hard to find any insinuation to go on when thinking about the story in the end.
Altogether I'd like to recommend this book to people who are interested in the approach it uses, but not so much if you expect to draw a moral maxim, a lesson, or even a punchline from it.
