Hello everyone,

I’m very pleased to offer 20 copies of my new book, "Das nicht ganz perfekte Leben der Mrs Lawrence" (Heyne Verlag) free to Lovely Books readers.

I’m a New Zealand-based writer, but I set my books all over the world – this book is set in America, where I lived for two years. I took my first trip to Germany for the 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair, and absolutely loved it. I hope to be back soon, as it would be great fun to set a book here.
My book came out in New Zealand in August this year, and this is what reviewers at home had to say about it:

“The Not So Perfect Life of Mo Lawrence is as quirky, funny and unafraid to puncture pretension as Michelle herself.”
“An earthy, authentic tale of love and loss – Catherine Robertson has built on her reputation of a writer of great romantic comedies.”
“It’s all about getting over yourself, with a little help from friends, family, decorative men, running jokes and backbone.”
“What a fascinating bunch of characters Catherine Robertson has created.”

I’d love to know what you think, too – especially what you think of the two main characters, Michelle and Aishe, who are not your typical ‘chick lit’ women, but, as one reviewer put it “first class stroppy witches”.
Best wishes
Catherine

PS: If you like my book, my first book is also available in German: "Wo bleibt den nun mein Happy End?" Michelle appears in a supporting role!

Übersetzung:

"Hallo zusammen,

@CatherineRobertson

I wanna read this book. Why? As a woman, I love Chick-lit and every book about love, friendship and so on. San Francisco is a very interesting set for such a story. I have heard only good things about this city. Unfortunately I have never been there, but if I win the book I could travel there in my fantasy. That would be really nice. ;)

What a cute cover! Such an innocent looking puppy (I like it altough I am a cat owner. Everytime I see puppys or kitten I go all "Oh my God are they cuuuute" Kinda embarassing, but I just can't help :D)
The story sounds real good. I read so much thriller over the last weeks, I crave for a funny and romantic novel for women. Something to laugh, something for the heart. I love characters that a different, that are no clichees.
I'd really like to read and discuss the novel. And I like the idea talking in English, it's a good training for us. And I love the language, especially in love stories. English Sometimes just fits better than German and can express certain things that German can't.

Kapitel 1-8: Anfang bis S. 103

At the beginning it was a bit difficult to really dive into the story as I found the conversations on the first pages a bit exhausting. After the first ten-twenty pages I really begin to like Mo and Aishe. The story is developping and the characters are getting more interesting.

Kapitel 9-16: S. 104-191

Chad is having kind of a midlife crisis and leaves the family without wanting any contact for a whole months unless it's an emergency. This is such a selfish behaviour and Mo is left alone with all her daily problems and with the worries of her mother-in-law about her husband.
Aishe is annoying me a bit because she treats Benedict like an sex object - a personal relationship between them is not allowed since she seems to hate him anyway.

Aishe messes up the "relationship" to Benedict by sleeping with Eddie and makes things worse for everyone. What a weird, weird person! If I knew her in real life I'd probably hate her guts! :P
Mo and Connie are becoming friends which is nice because Mo realises that Aishe is sometimes not a "real" friend.

The girls night out and Mo's really, really drunk! I liked this part of the book a lot!
Patrick, Aishe's cousin, shows up which was very unexpected! And of course very awkeward for the whole family!
Chad returns home and wonder if the two break up or if everything will work out for them in the end!

The ending of the book was very good! It was emotional and in parts also unexpected!
Benedict and Aishe actually end up being together which surprised me a bit but I liked it a lot! Would be interesting to know if they actually worked things out and are probably together now!
Chad and Mo decided to take the risk and travel the world together!
I'd even like to read more about all these characters. Maybe you could write another part, Catherine Robertson!? :)
