The Maximilian Museum is the main building of Augsburg's ArtCollections. Since it's founding as long ago as 150 years, the nature of its collections and their presentation have changed often and fundamentally. In 2003 it was possible with the reopening of the ground floor to realize the first part of the new concept which will be completed in 2006. In this year the former Free Imperial City will commemorate the 200th anniversary of it becoming part of the Kingdom of Bavaria. The Maximilian Museum and its outstanding collec- tions can maintain the memory of the Imperial City Augsburg in the present. This book is intended as a guide to it's originals.
