Trust me on one thing: you won´t ever again find history boring after reading this book.

Anyway, the trio of educated females managed to write a book that´ll certainly leave you hopelessly in love with it for reading MLJ means to constantly smile, constantly sigh, constantly laugh and constantly wonder about What Ifs. It means catching yourself redoing history and wondering whether the bird staring at you really is a bird. It means fully sinking into a story and simply enjoying it.

Characters
Edward isn´t fit for ruling a kingdom. Obviously he´s got a kind, good heart, but he has no idea of life and living. But he´s an adorable character, dorky in an endearing way and so cutely not-understanding real problems.

Lady Jane is the jewel of the book. Her Granger-ish obsession with books is absolutely relatable, although it shows us again that real life can´t be lived by the rules of books. Too much always gets in the way.
But Jane is gloriously witty, has a strong sense of right and wrong and knows herself good enough to concede when she´s outmatched.

Of course you´ll fall for Gifford, the lovely, yet clumsy swordsman who can form simple words into bouquets of beauty which would melt every girl´s heart. He clearly doens´t impress with his excelling bravery, but with a healthy amount of self confidence, literary skills and the necessary self irony. Handsomeness helps, too.

Plot
Once you figure out the whole magical details and the tune of the story, it won´t hold many surprises for you. Knowing the curse of history you´ll also quickly see the end coming. it won´t leave you disappointed, though. Just as with watching a Disney movie, you´ll settle down for light and lovely entertainment with the inevitable swoon-sigh at the end, when all the pieces fall into their right places.

I guarantee full entertainment if you allow the book to be what it is.
