The 80s, do you remember the music of the 80s?
Classic rock groups like U2, Genesis, Dire Straits, Metallica and AC/DC, pop artists such as The Police, Tracy Chapman and Tears for Fears each of them sold enough albums to be ranked in the book "100 Best selling albums of the 80s". Peter Dott, Justin Cawthorne, Chris Barrett and Dan Auty are music journalists well-experienced about popular music.
I found it kind of interessting and even nostalgic to rediscover albums of my youth. Surely this is mainstream music, but also a piece of history. My favorites of the 80s aren't represented. But yet there are some classic albums one will remember even in twenty years, like "Brothers in Arms" - Dire Straits, "The Joshua Tree" - U2, "Synchronicity" - The Police, "Tracy Chapman" - by herself, "Songs from the big chair" - Tears for Fears...to name but a few.
Each album is featured with sleeve artwork, complete track listings, musician line-ups, production credits, release date, album sales and a brief description of the most interesting facts and figures.
Time travel requested? The book in your hand, for example "King of pain" by The Police over the speaker - let's take a ride through the 80s. They weren't just Madonna and permanent waves.
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention, No. 1 in this ranking is?
Yes! "Thriller" - Michael Jackson
