The role of leadership in the development of innovation and new products is discussed in this book. Several leadership models are explained and applied to the leadership approach of Steve Jobs, Apple Inc. in order to validate the essentials of the theories. The theories analyzed in more detail are the componential theory, the relationship to circumstances and change, and other common practices in innovation management. As a result, it was concluded, that Steve Jobs was able to recruit people with high intrinsic factors as motivation, skills and creativity and was able to create an environment of stimulus to them (“push”). By building a product focused company structure, Jobs demanded all skill and creativity of his staff (“pull”), which was driven by his strong vision how the product should look like. At the same time, he was able to develop new markets despite an ongoing crisis by approaching the situation from a different perspective.
