This story still keeps me wondering what exactly it is about... The beginning was intriguing, a promise of something dark and sinister. What came next was a surprising, but very original and fascinating revelation which I don't want to reveal here. However, the author added a second level of creepiness which turned the plot in yet another direction. And this was the point were I got lost, as I just can't figure it out. I have a feeling it is important and full of meaning, but it eludes me, like something you can see only in the corner of your eye but never full-on. Also, I found the then added creatures too trivial compared to the genius idea the author had before, downsizing an original concept to some cheap monster show.
It is hard not to give away too much and this is a very personal opinion, so I recommend to just give it a try and see for yourself - not everyone may share my disappointed confusion.
