Who is the rightful new laird?

After the shocking reveal who is the new rightful laird? Is Duncan really Fergus´s grandson?
For Kieron it is clear that a groundkeeper is not the right person to be a laird hence he is doing all he can to spread rumours, accusations and threads to keep what he things is rightful his.
Only a DNA test can confirm who the new laird will be.
Bex is now right in the middle of this as Kieron is furious with her and also now that Duncan could be a laird is this the right time to tell him that she wants another chance with him?

I really like this series! For me it has a great Scottish atmosphere and I really like everybody we meet in this little village.
This book starts where the last ended.

The dog Ruby is lovely written, how she interacts with the characters is lovely.
How Bex is struggling here comes well across. She knows how hard the news are for Duncan, doesn´t want rumours spreading and also assumes that it is not the right time to tell him how she still feels about him as it could come across that now that he has money she wants him back.
I had some issues how she is reacting to Kieron. For me it was clear that such a person won´t apologize instead is mean. He thinks himself better than others, has only his own interests at heart so why such a person should play nice? With this aspect I struggled a bit hence deducted a bit my rating.

Otherwise I liked the interaction of the characters again and liked reading how Duncan handles that his whole world gets turned upside down and how Bex recognizes what is really important for her in live.

Great Scottish vibes! Predictable story but nicely written

Rebecca Barker thought she left the Highlands and her love Duncan behind her as she wanted to achieve her goal getting the corner office and the position she so hard worked for.
As she didn´t want Duncan to leave behind what he loves most, a long distance partnership is not working long term ending all while they still loved each other seems to be the perfect solution. The only downside is that she feels miserable.
When she get the new that Fergus the laird from Highland Hall passed away and wanted her to help settle his affairs. So she is on the way back to the Highland when she meets a nice stranger at the airport. As it turns out he is Fergus nephew and his only relative left who will inherit everything.
Or is there somebody else as the wording in Fergus will indicates there might be another heir.
As if this would not be enough to keep Bex busy, no she must accept that she is still high over heels in love with Duncan and she is asking herself if she made the right decision to end their relationship.

This is the second book but I had no issued reading it without knowing the first book in this series.
The story is predictable and right from the start it was clear to me what will happen. So normally I would give this a 3 star rating but as I absolutely loved the Scottish vibes in here this gets a 4 star rating from me.

On the on hand I understood Bex that she wanted so desperately to achieve her goal to get the position she worked for since years. On the other hand when she knows the relationship with Duncan was much more than she ever had, is it really the better decision to leave your love behind and to concentrate on your job? I am not so sure hence I had here some problems to fully understand her. Also some of her actions in the book I felt very naive from her end especially when she spent so much time already in Scotland and is aware of the weather and it dangers.
Duncan I really liked how he is outlined here. He is a man to my liking.

Here is a cliffhanger and lots of things are hanging in the air and the wrap up will be done in the next book here. This ending came a bit fast for my licking and the story ended a bit abrupt but I assume this is due to the fact that a 3rd book will come.

Still it is nicely written and I enjoyed the book.
