As I enjoyed reading Her Wicked Surrender, the first book in the Regency Hearts Redeemed Series, I had to read His Wicked Seduction as well, obviously.

This book was rather intense because the hero and the heroine are both at crosspoints in their life, Kit has just returned from captivity after having suffered as a slave for years and Maddie faces ruin and despair at the hands of....well.

The characters were different enough to entice me once more but a certain scheme is detectable, which makes the story despite its many twists and turns somewhat foreseeable.

Nevertheless I liked Kit and Maddie well and loved reading how their lives change for the better so I still enjoyed reading this book as well despite the similarities. I must admit though, that Rose and her naivete sometimes were a bit trying. There were times when I wasn't sure how much of this naivete was supposed to be real or how much might be faked but I fear that she is really as self-centered and naively innocent as she is portrayed.

Kit and Maddie are much more worldly, Kit is torn and a victim of his horrible experiences, bearing no resemblance any more to the somewhat carefree easy-going young man we met in Her Wicked Surrender, whereas Maddie, our heroine, tries to be brave and survive on her own in a time where women had almost no rights and were easily preyed upon by unscrupulous men.

On the whole the book is really well written and captivating especially for those who wondered about Kit's fate at the end of the first book.

Hmmmm, dieses Buch konnte mich leider nicht wirklich fesseln. Vielleicht muss ich zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt noch einmal einen Versuch starten, aber irgendwie konnte ich mich nicht ganz auf die Geschichte einlassen. Sie ist gut geschrieben, ja, aber dennoch habe ich das Buch zwischendurch immer wieder einmal abgebrochen und hatte keine Probleme, Carolly und James sich für einige Tage sich selbst zu überlassen. Wenn ich dann wieder angefangen habe zu lesen, habe ich es gerne gelesen, aber...
Ich weiß nicht, ob mir der Engel-Part letztlich doch zu viel war oder was auch immer, genau weiß ich es leider selber nicht.
Insgesamt waren es jedoch komplexe und interessante Charaktere, eine interessante und ein wenig andere Story und ein Schreibstil mit viel Witz und Charme. Ich schließe nicht aus, dass mir das Buch zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt besser gefallen hätte, da die "Zutaten" eigentlich alle stimmig und gut sind und das Ganze auch gut umgesetzt ist.
Wer also bereit ist, sich auf eine etwas andere Zeitreisegeschichte einzulassen, könnte hier durchaus fündig werden.

This is the last sentence of the book but I must admit that when I think of this book, I think that perhaps one day I'll actually be able to really read it.

I was really torn when I tried to decide how many stars I'd give this book as it left me shaken, disgusted and I couldn't bring myself to read all of it. I flipped the pages and read here and there while trying to find a place from which I could go on reading. If it hadn't been given this copy by ebookdisvcovery, I wouldn't have finished it.

Usually I like the books by Jade Lee and this one is also well written and it definetely has complex characters so it could have been a really good book - could have been. As it is, I couldn't enjoy it because the picture it presented was deeply disturbing.
I can't feel any romance and roses in the air when I read about a woman being beaten, hurt, chained and coaxed into any kind of sexual activity no matter how glorified it may be presented. This is not about "reaching heaven", this is about dominance and taking away ones choices. This is also about different cultures and different mentalities and I must admit that I had some problems coming to terms with the way it was portrayed and - well, I was also upset about the way things ended. Maybe this is supposed to be a happy ending but in my eyes the hero and the heroine being forced to act the way they did and the way things happend . Nope. Doesn't do it for me.

Soooo....that's not my cup of tea, sorry.
