Interview von LovelyBooks mit Jeffery Deaver, Mai 2011
I've written all my life, and sent my work to publishers for many years before my first book was published. Along the way, there were many rejections.
I am a big fan of all classic suspense authors. I especially admire Thomas Harris, Ian Fleming, Arthur Conan Doyle, just to name a few.
I never wait for inspiration for my ideas. I get to work on a detailed outline and work out the plot details in that way.
I love hearing from my readers and e-mail is a great way to keep in touch with them.
I read a lot on nonfiction, but these days I'm so busy writing that I don't have a lot of time to read as much as I'd like.
Write as much as you can and don't be discouraged by rejection.
I'm especially fond of Lincoln Rhyme because he was my first series character.
I was surprised when the Lincoln Rhyme books became so popular. I had planned to write just one book about Rhyme, but readers wanted more stories about him, so I kept writing new adventures for him!
At the moment, I'm at work on the next Kathryn Dance novel, which will be out next year.
