I like the newest of the Harry Potter Books a lot! For me it wasn’t perfect but close to it. While reading, the reader realizes that the book isn’t only written by J.K. Rowling but also by Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. I think this is the main reason why so many people don’t like it… It was so amazing to be back in the world of the wizards! At the beginning of the book the first three school years of Harry’s son Albus at Hogwarts are mentioned in a very short way. The main story acts in the fourth year at Hogwarts. At first I was irritated and worried that the whole continues like this and there is no real story. Also the fact that the book is written like a play didn’t bother me anyway. Sure, it wasn’t perfect because the reader isn’t able to know what the characters are feeling or thinking. And the tons of details we are used to read in other books just don’t exist, because there is mainly the text which the characters are speaking and some instructions how they have to look or where they have to go. Hogwarts is a bit in the background of the story. Even if lots of things happen there the focus is on other things. The ‘Actionstory’ made me desperate some times. Of course I cheered and hoped with the characters but I also asked myself how anyone does stupid things like this voluntarily… But if you aren’t only with Scorpius and Albus all the time but also with Harry and the others you immediately know more than the characters. There were some big surprises concerning the characters as well (at least for me). But I can’t write more about it without spoilering you accidentally.

All in one I think the book is well accomplished. It’ll never be better than the main seven books, that is a fact, but I think I’ll read it some more times. If you are open for small or even big changes concerning the characters and you definitely want to go back to the world of the wizards you should read it. And if not, I would also say you should read it because it is and it’ll always be a Harry Potter book.
