'Bully Boy Blue' is a very satisfying revenge-thriller (I love these!) about a woman who finally finds the courage to flee her abusive husband, who happens to be a cop. After three years of psychical and physical torture, Kathy decides she can't take any more, especially now that she discovered she's pregnant and has to protect not only herself, but also her unborn child.

The fast pace of this short read enhances the feeling of urgency that permeates each page and makes it impossible to stop reading, leaving you breathless. The author did a great job portraying Kathy's despair as no one believes her and she is all on her own, as well as her two-faced husband. To the outside, Mike Conner presents a flawless facade of respectability, but only at home does he reveal his true and monstrous nature. It is stories like this, making you feel an inside part instead of just a by-standing observer, which speak of an author's talent in writing.

I very much enjoyed this story and am eager to explore other books by Mr. Nicholl.
