The fear and dread she generates is for me what makes her one of THE best thriller writers. The shocks just keep coming and the ending is just how I wanted to it to be. It’s just perfect.’Postcard Reviews ‘A powerhouse of emotions . . . Put simply, it’s wickedly engaging, and one I’d absolutely recommend.’ Little Bookness Lane ‘Had me gripped from the first few pages, and at no point does the story disappoint. Love a good twist? This was one thrilling ride . . . I strongly in all sincerity recommend this book!’ The Reading Room ‘This is the best book I think I have read in a long time. Considering the fact that I have read more thriller books and watched more thriller/mystery shows than I can count I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that nothing could surprise me any more. Guess what?? This book has taught me there are still books out there in the mystery genre that could surprise me . . . I would recommend this book to all the mystery lovers out there. I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a thriller/mystery genre book this much.’ Nair the Critique ‘Oh my gosh! What a stunning story. I couldn’t put this book down and devoured it over a weekend . . . Giving a 5 star rating has never been easier.’ StefLoz Book Blog</

Gute Story aber die Charaktere handeln unglaubwürdig und es fehlt an emotionaler Tiefe

18 years ago, Simone’s 6-month-old daughter was abducted and never found. When a young woman, Grace, now approaches her and tells he she believes that she is her daughter, Simone is caught between disbelieve, fear and happiness. After only a couple of hours together and a strange story Grace tells her about how she found out, Simone’s life is turned upside down and she finds herself in the middle of a search not only for the truth about what happened almost two decades ago, but also in a murderous connection with opponents who are much stronger and reckless than she can imagine. The story about a child being abducted and then so much time later clues to what could really have happened already is a gripping plot from an emotional point of view. However, what Kathryn Croft makes of it is much more than just this. She extends her story more and more, building a net of side plots which are even more interesting and thrilling and combines them all in an astonishing way to solve the case in a most unexpected way. Focusing on protagonist and accompanying Simone in her search gives the reader the opportunity to go through different mental states from happiness to the highest fear, anger and compassion. All in all, a psychological thriller which can keep its promises with a lot of suspense and many twists and turns which constantly provide new developments.

It’s hard to write about this book without spoilers. It has a lot of twists and turns and there are a lot of characters you have to deal with. The book got me right from the beginning, but the more I read the more I became irritated. Why is nobody calling the police? All characters lack emotions. They all seem so distant to the story. Simone is making one strange decision after another. She never follows one lead until the end, she always gets distracted from something else. And a lot of things happen quite handy for the story. People just open up to her, telling her immediately what she wants to know. And there are also some holes in the story, for example Grace’s lost mobile phone which Simone never stops to call. And why is Simone never really worrying that something bad could have happened to Grace? She is running around looking for her and for someone she suspects but she seems not really to be worried. There are a lot of questions like that in the book. The characters just don’t react appropriate. I think the book has quite potential. The story idea is good. I also liked the writing. But the story is just full of accidents and stupid decisions. It is just an unbelievable story. I saw the final twist coming. As soon as Sienna was introduced to the story I had a feeling about that twist.  One the other hand it was a fast read. The story is not bad, so you can rush through and just consume it. I won’t say that I did not like the book. It was ok but I think I could have been better when the characters would have been more real, more emotional
