Rezension zu "Pretty Broken Dolls (Pretty Little Dolls Series Book 4)" von Ker Dukey
3,5 Stars
And again: I won´t summarize the book. My review will just consist of my thoughts and will be like the reviews of the other books. There might be some tiny spoilers though this time. So just keep reading if you already read the book or if you don´t care about SPOILERS.
This book also had (like books 1-3) changing povs and had this time also the pov of Viktor.
At first I didn´t like that there was now another pov thrown into this series. I couldn´t make up my mind about Viktor and had no idea what his intensions were. The more I read though, the more I started to like him and his pov. Still would have loved to have more povs of Benny.
In general- I feel this series is more about the others than about Benny. There were probably more povs by the other characters than Benny (didn´t count, but maybe I will once I own the paperbacks ;) ) . There´re so many povs by Jade and then Dillon. I could never really connect to them and even started to dislike them in this book. As I said- I´d have loved to read more about Benny, his thoughts, his feelings... That´s why I like/d book no. 3 more.
Dillon- he annoyed me. Always with his: I´m going to kill him. I´m going to kill Benny. I will kill Benjamin. I will remove him from this earth. Bla Bla Bla. Him and his constant empty threats. In book one he was made like he´s one of the best detectives but he isn´t.
I loved how Benny finally found ppl who accepted and loved him. How he slowly started to accept them and himself and started to slowly change. To become more "human". Kinda missing his doll fetish and his crazy though ;) There wasn´t much left about it.
One scene wasn´t really logical. It was somewhere at the beginning. Dillon got a warrant for the club because of favors or whatever. He couldn´t have gotten it though. He had no proofs, no evidence nothing that would make this warrant rightful. The things he got, he hot illegally. The pictures- they were taken secretly, without permission and without the order by the police department. Means- They can´t use those pictures against anyone. The simcard with the video- Dillon stole it. Therefore he can´t use it and he has no proof that this simcard belongs to Viktor and there´s no proof that Viktor had anything to do with the stuff that happened in the video. Dillon had nothing on Viktor and therefore couldn´t have gotten the warrant. He couldn´t have taken Viktor with him for questioning as well and taking his laptop wasn´t rightful. Put me off for a few minutes when I read the book :/
Elizabeth.... She was weird. She was the sweet, nice girl who was fascinated with her brother and dolls. She was "normal". She was still "normal" with Benny and it was fine. There was nothing wrong for liking the things he did to her. Some ppl just have fetishes. But she changed very fast. Its like a 180 degree change. Now she lied, killed, deceived. Dillon was her best friend, her brother. Now she didn´t really care about him, did things to and in front of him, that wasn´t her anymore. She was a totally different person. She wasn´t brainwashed by Benny and wasn´t traumatized. There was no reason for her to become this person... It was just weird...
Some of the scenes...phew. Hot. The sexual tension. Viktor, Benny and also Beth...that was good :D
The V Games- interesting. Can´t wait to read about it. Hope I won´t have to wait too long for those books :)
Kami- It became clear why Viktor was so protective of her but later on...he always seemed to be into her and like he´s obsessed and in love with her. But then he acted like she´s not important :/
The thing with Lucy was fine. The scenes in this skatershop with Benny could have been longer though. Somehow every scene that could get interesting and has so much potential is always short. Those scenes could be longer and more detailed. I´d rather read less about the whole police/detective stuff and more about the crazy, sick, dark, twisted stuff :)
A bit weird though that they were able to find the weapon and fingerprints, even though the building was on fire.
I´m still wondering what Jade, Dillon, Elisa and Co felt and thought when they found out that Elizabeth was gone. She disappeared just like that. But there was no mention of if they knew what happened or if they are worried and looking for her.
I´m glad that the book ended this way. Kinda feared it would be the end end :P Still need more books though. More Benny. Could get more interesting now and maybe even darker. So- when will Book 5 come out? :P
A book about Viktors brother would be nice as well.
I enjoyed this series. It was good and I´d recommend it. I know my reviews maybe don´t sound like it because I write more negative points than positive, but somehow I´m better in remembering those ;) Doesn´t mean the book or series is bad though. So give it chance if you havent already :)
