Inhaltsangabe zu „With a Kiss“ von Kim Dare

When Liam Bates volunteered to visit lonely patients at his local hospital, he expected them to be able to talk back when he chatted to them. But, when he’s assigned to visit a comatose man, he soon finds himself spilling out his whole life story in an effort to fill the silence. It’s not long before the peace and comfort he finds in the man’s hospital room becomes Liam’s refuge from an increasingly hostile world.

Vampire Marcus Corrigan has been trapped inside his paralysed body for over three years, unable to communicate with anyone. The chatty young man who visits Marcus quickly captivates him, and Liam’s softly spoken words soon have him determined to rescue the boy from his current life, but, unable to move a muscle, all Marcus can actually do is lay there and listen.

There’s only one thing that can wake up Marcus. There’s only one thing that can save Liam’s sanity. Everything is about to change for them both, and it will change with a kiss.

Please Also Note: This is the second edition of this title. It has been tweaked and re-edited but the plot has not been changed.

A very sweet D/s Master/Pet story about a vampire and a human.

    With a Kiss

Liam volunteers at the hospital, reading to an comatose vampire once a week. It's his only escape from his abusive boyfriend Ralph. The unconscious Marcus is the only one he tells about his abuse. But then a new years kiss from Liam wakes up Marcus, who heard everything that was said, and has resolved to rescue Liam from his partner and make him his submissive, in due time. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Despite calling itself a fairy tale retelling, it just doesn't have that fairy tale feel. It's not quite Urban fantasy either, since it lacks any world building. It basically just throws the premise at you, that there are vampires living among humans and there are some story-relevant details later on, but that's about it. It's not the focal point.I really like the relationship of Liam and Marcus, even though Marcus can be a bit (or a lot) of a dick in the beginning, and I was afraid he'd just replace Ralph as the person who decides what Liam has to do, but that's not what happens. He keeps saying he has no idea how to deal with a fragile human, but he's really doing a pretty good job of it. I very much enjoyed how much Marcus was trying to be patient and kind, even though apparently that's not really his personality, and I liked how Liam tried to be brave and trusting for Marcus, too.I was just a bit at a loss as what they where seeing in each other. I mean, it's like they simply imprinted on each other because of the time they spent in the hospital. But I guess I can suspend my disbelieve on that one.I adored how slow the D/s relationship developed, how much care Marcus was taking with Liam. That's really the sweetest part. The BDSM parts where not very adventurous, but that wasn't really the point and they where pretty hot regardlessly. It's mostly about the trust building between Pet and Master, defeating the demons for both of them, that was the part that really made the book for me. Too many BDSM or D/s stories have elements of punishment, which I'm not too found of and there is nothing of that in here.
