I'm sure the author had good intentions in pointing out the role of the mother in the family bond, but it just wasn't my book.
Kyung-Sook Shins intention with her book "Please look after mom" or "Please look after mother" is simple and important - I guess she wanted to speak up for mothers and above all, she wants to sensitize the other family members to appreciate the value of the mother. So in her book an elderly woman disappears without a trace. Her family try to find her and while searching her, they remember her and how they don't see her at all.
Don't get me wrong - I really like this idea, but reading the book really annoyed me and I was very happy when I finished it. In the end I had so many questions, but in fact only a slice of an idea what the author wants to tell with her book.
After all, it just wasn't my taste of book.
