Rezension zu "Pod: SHORTLISTED FOR THE WOMEN'S PRIZE FOR FICTION (English Edition)" von Laline Paull
This literary work tells us a story from the ocean’s inhabitants’ point of view. Set into quite the dramatic - but not too much, and sadly, quite realistic - back story, Laline tells of the demise of what is supposed to be a sanctuary, of the destruction of countless habitats, by giving the inhabitants themselves a voice. The whole book is told either from a spinner dolphin’s, a whale’s or a wrasse’s point of view. All of them feeling the repercussions of humans in the ocean & eating fish.
I have to say, reading this book hurts. But that’s okay because I don’t think us humans are going to react to anything else (and doesn’t that say everything). Nevertheless, I am so very grateful to @lalinepaull for writing it because we need more of these stories. And while I understand that people don’t want to read sad books during sad times, this one is an exception. It’s a must. So, please, read it, and pay more attention to our oceans & rivers & lakes!
