Butterflies Forever

Everybody knows how to breathe – it’s a natural reflex that requires no thought. Nurse Lila’s idyllic world is in a state of collapse. Her third child was stillborn, and her marriage is crumbling before her very eyes. In a last-ditch attempt to regain her life, she leaves Hamburg and moves back to her native village in Bavaria, her two little daughters in tow. A meeting with the village doctor takes her by surprise: he is precisely the man who can relate to an embarrassing incident that occurred during her practicum at the hospital. Although their initial conversations end up in a heated battle of words, it is this very interaction that inadvertently helps Lila emerge from her sorrow. It turns out Lila isn’t the only one dealing with emotional upheaval: the doctor must likewise come to terms with his decisions and reappraise his past.
