Hello lovely Readers! Thank you so much for having me and for hosting a discussion about my book, Kiss Me Kill Me, on LovelyBooks!

Kiss Me Kill me (published in English as The Killing Woods) is a novel that began in a particular, real setting – the deep, deciduous woodland behind my house in Wales (UK). As I was searching for a story for my third book, I began to take long walks through these woods. As I walked, I thought about what sort of things might, or could, happen in ‘my’ woods. I thought about the most exciting things that could happen there, as well as the very worst things. One day, I spotted a herd of deer staring back at me through the trees. Another day, I found a secret abandoned bunker deep in the forest. All this went into the novel.

I was also thinking about what was going on in the news. At that time there were a lot of soldiers returning from combat in Afghanistan. One newspaper article, in particular, shocked me. It reported that many soldiers were returning from the combat mentally damaged by some of the things they’d witnessed. The article suggested that there were not enough health services available at the time to help all of these soldiers: sick soldiers were going untreated. This got me thinking: what if I were a teenage girl who absolutely adored her soldier father and thought he was a hero when he went off to combat? What if that father came back from combat a changed man: someone quiet and damaged, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder? How would a close community view a man like that, and just what could that suffering ex-soldier really be capable of?

Kiss Me Kill me is about these things. It is also about a dark and sexy game that happens in the local woods after dark. It is about attraction and fear. And it is, ultimately, about characters uncovering their own capabilities for darkness, as well as light, through the actions they do.

Hello Lucy :)
I'd like to participate in this reading round cause I love Lucy Christoper. In fact I've only read one book by her which was Stolen but I loved it sooo much and wanted to get this book, too! Every time I was in a book store I saw it and thought if I should get it or not cause lately there are so many new great books and events and movies and I only get a limited amount of pocket money every month so I honestly can't afford getting thousands of new books every month even though I'd love to! :D

To make it short: Like I said I loved Lucy Christoper's "Stolen" and really would like to read this one, too. I think I'll love it. It's also a great opportunity to talk with the author about their books, I mean how often do you get this chance?

It'd be an honor,
lots of love.

Sounds intriguing to me, cause I have thougt about soldiers coming home from war, too. How can they cope with daily life after what they have seen and done? So, I'd like to participate in this reading circle and see what happens to this teenage girl and her father.

Teil 3: Kapitel 25 - 39 (S. 279)

I finished the book now, but I want to tell my opinion to this part, too.
This third part was sometimes a little bit boring for me. Not the full time, but sometimes I thought that the story doesn't go on. That there are no new facts.
For example Damon. He runs through the forest, without any destination. He only tries to remember what happend the night Ashlee died.
The story is very dark, so my feelings while reading, are sometimes very sad and dark, too.
I think all of the persons, Damon ore Emily ore the other ones aren't in a good fettle.
This part does not help me to find out how is the murderer. I think, Emilys dad not, but if it is Damon, I wouldn't like this fact.
At the moment I tink it is Joe. He is very strange and I tink he could be the murderer. Or one of Damons friends.
I tink Ashlee was no nice person. She was strange and not honest.

I like the story and how it is been told but I miss something to be very excited.
But I am very excited to know how is the muderer.

So, now I finished the book.
I am glad that Emilys Dad isen't the murderer. Mack ... ist was such an accident, but he would go in the prison, I think.
I like the ending. Damon and Emily are friends. Perhabs more than friends?
Emilys dad is looking for help. I think that is good, because of his problems from war.
It's a good ending for a dark story.
My review follows.

Fragen an die Autorin / Questions to the author

Hello Lucy,
I just finished reading your book. I had a good time reading it. Now, my question is: You mentioned, that the Darkwood is a real wood behind your house. Could you tell me the name of it please? I would love to see some real pictures of that wood.
Im looking forward to your answer.

P.S.: I know Im a little late : )
