Just let me express at first, my undying love for abrupt story starts. Let me also swear fealty to all settings sandy, dessert and oriental. Finally, let me compare the joy of Jalan´s boat trip back home to a glass of sizzling champagne. It was just that sparkling.
Writing, world building blah- all said and done, still perfect.
Moving on to the new things I have to say Lisa DeVeer is the girl you´d imagine Jalan to match with. Why put up with any of his antics when you have the power of slapping him and still get that look from him? Go Lisa!
The world would be a better place with more couples like them.
The final featured the great three:
epic battle, even more epic battle and drama, of course.
Good thing that a dose of hilarious weirdness counteracted the dramatic events, which oozed slight tear shed and heartbreaking sadness.
We have to thank Count Isen´s ridiculous need for „honor“ and Jalan´s indifference against dignity for that one.
I loved the constellation of the setting- the different stops of Jalan´s journey with the glowing highlight of Vermillion. I also loved the constellation of companions who made every part of the trip a different story. They all round up the plot and Jalan himself perfectly.
In the end, it was a great final.
