I’ve been thinking, if I should review this novel in English or German. I read the english edition, I don’t know if there’s a german.
In my opinion english books aren’t as elaborate as german editions. Its a paperback, very nice font and cover and the fairytalish embellishment which is a proper design to this fairytale.
I prefer the german editions in this case.
I read Levana's story after Winter (Wie Schnee so weiß), but I’d also prefer and recommend to read it before. Of course, one always asks the question why is a person as it is, especially when she behaves as malicious as Levana.
You see behind the curtain, literally, you can read why Levana has become an/the evil queen.
She is tormented by her sister and no one wants to help her. She's alone and angry, falls in love with the wrong person.
Interesting is also the matter of the quilt of earth Solstice made (Evret Hayles wife), the Levana wanted absolutely. When she is with Solstice, she almost forced her to give it to her, she doesn’t because she’s Evrets wife. Later, when her Evret give it to Levana as a present, she wants to keep it safe for his daughter, until she’ll be old enough.
She’s going to far to be happy, because that is her main, her real goal. Levana wants marry her love and its all shes focused on. When she is the Queen Regent, she’s still not satisfied, she wants to be the queen. She extravageates, she wants a child, she wants the earth. She wants to be the fairest queen of the galaxy. Also she wants to be loved, be happy and save the moon/ Luna.
We now know Levana's story and partially understand her behavior, her story and its end is sad.
Whos English is reasonably good, will get along well, but as already mentioned, it is sometimes difficult to understand / translate because Luna is a completely fictional world. But that's okay, if you know the first volumes of the chronicles, you’ll be already familiar with Luna.
