London, late 19th century: The equally gifted, eccentric draftsman and notorious loner Louis Wain (Benedict Cumberbatch) lives with his mother and five sisters in a turbulent household in which nothing is missing - except money. As the man of the family, it is up to him to feed them, which he manages more poorly than well. The tide turns when he shows his drawings of cats to the publisher of the Illustrated London News, who promptly offers him a job as an illustrator.
Under pressure from his eldest sister, Caroline, Louis reluctantly accepts the position. A decision that completely changes his life, because not only does the publisher become an important patron and friend, Louis also falls head over heels in love with the governess Emily Richardson (Claire Foy). Despite the difference in status and opposition from the family, the two become a couple. Everything finally seems to be working out for the better when a twist of fate presents Louis with a completely different challenge.

Have you heard of Louis Wain before? To be honest - I don't.
But all the more I fell in love with this beautiful, but also sad story.
I saw the movie first and then got the screenplay and read it. There are so many great scenes and dialogues.
Be sure to check it out!
