In this case, the low rating is especially due to personal taste.
The book is really good, the story interesting and the characters are quite well developed. But it is not so much my cup of tea.

The story takes place almost completely at - let's call it court for easy understanding. So it's about intrigues, one would guess. Yes, those are there, but the focus of the story seems to be on feelings. One of the Gods for example is, what people think of him, and therefore shape him into.
Feelings are a big part of life of course, but I would have been happier with a bit less of that, and a bit more action instead.

At times it felt like YA - due to the young woman telling her story, and an easy writing style, but then come some scenes, that clearly wouldn't fit in a YA book.

Overall it was a fast read, that kept me well enough entertained to finish it. (Which is not a given, I put down a lot of books I don't like.) I don't think I will read more by this author.

Once again, that is almost purely due to me wanting more action and suspense in a fantasy book, so if you like such kinds of books, you might really love this, and should give it a go
