Rezension zu "Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray. English Edition" von Oscar Wilde
Bozena_frejlich_reviewsNow, finally, I've read this phenomenal book in English.
I love this story, and I first read it in Polish, many years ago.
My second time was in German.
I was much older and more mature and understood the story differently.
I also noticed many interesting things that I hadn't noticed as a young girl.
Now I've read the book in English, and once again, a few years have passed.
But the story seems to have a lot of different faces 🤔
The story is timeless, without a doubt.
I just finished it, and because of many things that have happened in recent years and months, this incredibly clever and sarcastic story has taken on a completely different meaning for me.
I know that most people have read this book.
So I can write a little more freely about the content, so here we go.
How many bloggers and influencers would make the same deal with the devil as Dorian Gray?
I imagine that many would sell their souls to the devil to stay young and beautiful forever (or at least longer).
I mean, isn't what many people do with cosmetic surgery and chemicals almost the same thing?
That's the beauty of this classic story, that's the genius of Oscar Wilde.
You can interpret it as reflecting our current times as I could many years ago.
For anyone who hasn't read this classic, I highly recommend it.
It's a good book if you want to delve into Oscar Wilde's world.
For me, it's a timeless experience that I recommend to everyone.
