Inhaltsangabe zu „The Moon Shines Red (Heart of Darkness)“ von Pamela Sparkman

The red glow of the moon washed over land and sea like a faded bloody stain. Everything was bathed in it, including him. A constant reminder of the curse that marked him before he was born. Every night he gazed at it like he was lured and haunted by it. It followed him, it beseeched him. It called out to him. Just once he wanted to see the moon glow as everyone else saw it. Bright and illuminating. But he knew that would never be possible. The all too familiar feeling of despair suffocated him, like long gangly fingers squeezing his neck, cutting off his air. He fell to his knees and begged for the sky to fall on him. He had suffered long and tirelessly and he was desperate for it to end. And yet, he fought to breathe. He fought to stand back on his feet. Because fighting back was as instinctual to him as breathing. He had come too far to let his loneliness and despair get the best of him now. He was battle worn and weary, but he still had a reason to live. Or so he hoped. He stood back on his feet and he fought against the doom that hovered over him since the day he was born and he stared up into the darkened sky. At the moon that shines red only for him. He was cursed. I should have stayed away from him. But I couldn't. HE was my love...my life. And he just might kill me. So I guess that means...he may also be my end.

This is the first book I've read of the author and I simply fell in love with her beautiful way of writing and her lovely complex characters

Bittersweet, that's the best word to describe this beautifully written romantasy story. I loved every bit of it.There has been put so much love and detail in every single character, I just couldn't help adoring them all in their own special way. They kept surprising me along the way, again and again. Once I had thought I had figured them out, something happened that proved me wrong. The story as a whole has turned out to be quite different to what I expected it to be. At the first glance at the cover and the description, the combination of the moon and a curse, leads one to think about the classic werewolf story. Frankly, I have quite enough of vampires and their natural enemies because, more often than not, stories involving them tend to be pretty cliché. But something about the book cover, the red glow of the moon, the mysterious vibe of it plus the description in form of a little teaser called to me somehow, made me curious. So I decided to give it a chance. And I am very glad I did.No vampires, no werewolves. Faes are the stars of this book, creatures I haven't come across that often, meaning there is quite a bit to discover. My fantasy and all kinds of magic loving heart has been very happy to delve right into the world of Fae that is presented here and has been left wanting more of it. The author has a way with words, wow. You don't need to think, just feel and experience. The pictures are turning up in your head on their own, just as if you are watching a movie. And the feelings, never have I felt with the characters more. The blossoming lovestory between Elin and Lochlan, the latter cursed to kill with a single touch, becomes a very intense experience this way. The longing, the yearning of the two lovers to touch the other, you can feel it as if it were your own. There is this one scene, where Lochlan describes how he would kiss Elin for the first time if only he could, and I felt my heart melting. I'm very much impressed. The author has gained an additional fan in me. I love her beautiful style of writing, so full of gripping emotions. I can highly recommend this piece of art about bittersweet love and the dream-like world of Fae and I can't wait to read the sequel.
