17 year old Dean is in his last year of high school when he gets cast as Romeo in his high school theater group. The thing is, Dean is a girl, or so he thought until now. Playing Romeo makes him realize some things about his gender identity and he has to make some decisions. Does he want to come out to his friends, his girlfriend, his family, the theater group? What does he want his future to look like? Who does he want to be?
I really loved this book. I could relate a lot to Dean and you can tell that the author really knows what they're talking about. There is a lot of uncertainty and fear about accepting your gender identity and embracing it, especially in a high school setting.
I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about what its like to be trans, and equally to transmasc folk who want to feel seen in a character. (This book also has other queer representation btw)
