Rezension zu "Cornelsen Senior English Library - Juvenile Fiction / Ab 10. Schuljahr - Hillsden Riots" von Rhodri Jones
the book offers an insight into the events that lead to a fictitious riot by black people in northern london, which is and has been a very real topic to start with. the book is quite authentically written from the perspective of two brothers which will change back and forth throughout the book. the drawback is the quite predictable change within the two protagonists who start off at both extremes - typical predicaments of afro-anglo-saxons in a white society: one is striving to fit in, being a role model student; the other one is the typical rebel. in the course of the novel, both are involuntarily involved in the events and start to rethink their position. interesting and educating novel, especially the "black jamaican speak" added up to the atmosphere.
