Inhaltsangabe zu "The Witches (Dahl Fiction)"

Phizz-whizzing new branding for the world's No.1 storyteller, Roald Dahl! Exciting, bold and instantly recognisable with Quentin Blake's inimitable artwork. The Witches by Roald Dahl is the story of a detestable breed of Witches. Beware. Real witches dress in ordinary clothes and look like ordinary women. But they are not ordinary. They are always plotting and scheming with murderous, bloodthirsty thoughts - and they hate children. The Grand High Witch hates children most of all and plans to make every single one of you disappear. Only one boy and his grandmother can stop her, but if their plan fails the Grand High Witch will frizzle them like fritters, and then what...? good? Now you can listen to The Witches and other Roald Dahl audiobooks read by some very famous voices, including Kate Winslet, David Walliams and Steven Fry - plus there are added squelchy sound effects from Pinewood Studios! And look out for new Roald Dahl apps in the App store and Google Play- including the disgusting Twit or Miss! and House of Twits inspired by the revolting Twits.

    Kurzmeinung: Fabulous, weird, and enthralling
A gripping adventure with a little boy, his cigar-smoking grandmother and a lot of evil witches

After the death of his parents, a little boy moves in with his grandma, a cigar-smoking, tremendously old lady who knows everything about witches and tells him how to recognize one. This knowledge comes in handy when one day, in a hotel, the boy is locked in a room full of nice ladies who turn out being not so nice at all and soon it is up to him to save the children of England...
I wonder what parents think of this book - although the grandma clearly loves her grandson very much she does allow him to get into some very dangerous situations... and surely parents will have trouble getting their children to have a bath after the children have read this book and learned how dangerous it is to have a bath and become easily detectable by witches' noses... Quite obviously Roald Dahl did not care much whether parents will be pleased or not but only about what the children will think of it - and I am sure that most will be delighted!
It is a very gripping story, full of creativity and humour, with a likeable little hero boy and wonderful, expressive illustrations by Quentin Blake.
