The Outlaw and the Heir is the prequel to the Isaiah Ranch series and is set against the backdrop of the American West.
The author's writing style is captivating and it didn't take long for me to find myself in the middle of the story. The story is told alternately from Ambrose's and Samuel's point of view.
Samuel is a convict who comes to work on the ranch run by the powerful Isaiah ranching family. There he meets the family's son, Ambrose, who initially views him with suspicion, but who comes to trust him over time. And then there's this attraction between the two of them that won't let go.
The romance is definitely slow burn and it worked perfectly. I loved how Samuel and Ambrose slowly got closer to each other. Overall, I thought the setting was great, there's a lot of emotion and there's quite a bit of tension. Even if the romance starts slowly, I found the story very entertaining.
The two of them fought for the ranch together, but also for their lives. There were also great secondary characters like Ambrose's sister and some secrets are revealed at the end.

Michael Dean is a brilliant narrator who brought the story to life. It was a real pleasure to listen to his narration. He gave Ambrose and Samuel the appropriate voices and you could really feel the emotions. I listened to the audiobook in just two days, as I said, great entertainment!

Die Idee, dass sich beste Freunde ineinander verlieben, ist sicherlich nicht neu. Aber Romeo Alexander erzählt die Geschichte von Dean und Sloane überzeugend, kurzweilig und warmherzig.

Dean und Sloane kennen sich schon ewig und waren zufällig oft an den gleichen Orten stationiert. Sie pflegen eine tiefe Freundschaft und fühlen sich in der Gegenwart des anderen sehr wohl.

Sloane wirkt nach außen mürrisch, aber er hat das Herz auf dem rechten Fleck. Nur in Deans Nähe verhält er sich anders, ausgeglichener. Dean hingegen ist offen schwul, hat aber derzeit keine Beziehung. Und er hat sich nach dem letzten Einsatz verändert. Er genießt Sloanes Nähe, denn sobald er bei seinem besten Freund übernachtet, schreckt er nicht aufgrund von Albträumen aus dem Schlaf.

Ich fand die beiden sehr sympathisch. Sie sind sehr verschiedenen aufgewachsen und ihre Beziehung zu ihren Familien könnte unterschiedlicher nicht sein.

Dean hat mehr Gefühle für Sloane, als er sollte. Hat ihre Freundschaft noch eine Chance? Lesen Sie selbst!

Ich fand die Geschichte interessant und emotional und ich mochte die Dynamik zwischen den Hauptfiguren. Dean und Sloane sind echt süß zusammen!

I love second chance stories and this is a good one!
Last Chance Love is the third book in the Isaiah Ranch series and it can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading at least the second volume first. Romeo Alexander's writing style is wonderful and I was able to immerse myself in Reed and Leon's story very quickly. They were inseparable in their youth until Reed moved away to go to medical school. They lost sight of each other.
Leon had a difficult time because he was taking care of his two younger brothers.
Both Leon and Reed end up in prison, but get a second chance at Isaiah Ranch.
There they meet again after all these years and it takes a long time for them to reconnect. But they realize that the sparks are still flying. It is wonderful to see how more develops between the two of them.
But their happiness is clouded by events that threaten to tear them apart.
I really liked the relatable main characters, but the secondary protagonists are also very interesting. I also like the setting of Isaiah Ranch.
The plot starts slowly, the tension builds and there are unforeseen twists that keep the suspense high.

Michael Dean has done an amazing job as always. He brought the characters to life and it was a pleasure to listen to him. I was able to distinguish the protagonists well. Michael read in an entertaining way and gave the protagonists suitable voices.
