Alfred Birnbaum Alfred Birnbaum was born in the United States. Birnbaum's translations include Haruki Murakami's Hear the Wind Sing, Pinball, 1973, A Wild Sheep Chase, Dance Dance Dance, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Underground.
