This was my first book by Susi Hawk and I was thrilled. I don't know the two previous volumes, but Settle for Something can be read quite well as a standalone. Shane, with his big heart and protective instincts, captured my heart from the start. Unfortunately, he has always looked for suitable mates in the wrong places, but that changes when he meets Xavier.
Shane makes Xavier believe in love and protects Xavier from his past that threatens to catch up with him. The chemistry between Xavier and Shane was great, it was fun to follow the two.
What a sweet and funny story! Susi Hawke created fantastic characters and I don't just mean the main protagonists. I found the animals very funny as well.
Michael Dean is one of those voice actors that I really enjoy listening to, and he did a terrific job here as well! He understood the personalities and gave them each a perfect voice, and he did a super job of bringing out the emotions of each protagonist. It was an absolute pleasure to listen to him here.
This audiobook is a feel-good story - very sweet, romantic, sexy and fun! Highly recommended!
Also gut. Die Idee fand ich jetzt mal schon gut. Ich mochte ja auch die Helden und ihre Macken. Und ich fand es gut, dass es keine zu sexlastige Geschichte war. Hat alles super gepasst.
ABER ..... ständig wurde die Erzählperspektive gewechselt. Bei drei handelnden Personen kann das dann schon mal kompliziert werden. Das ging mir irgendwann einfach nur noch auf die Nerven. Und es hat halt auch den Lesefluss massiv gestört.
