A. L. Kennedy // She is a genius using the dynamics of perspectives! Best European writer I think! And she is progressing really fast...

BBC's movie after the biography by Vita Sackville-West and her son Nigel Nicolson. I am fascinated by Vita's idea and attempt to be true to both, the friendship to her husband Harold Nicolson and to her own right to obsessively love and lust after her all-time girlfriend Violet Trefusis. It is a wild attempt!
And Janet McTeer is a fabulous Vita!
Sebastian Haffner // A German historian and journalist whose mind was constructed most impressively: He connected human emotional motives with factual analysis and the works of information architectures and political architectures. (1907-1999)

Charles Dickens // I, too, believe in the one circumstance, the one experience or the one person that influences one so greatly that it will be the initiating and leading force of one's whole life.
Bewertung zu "The Mistress's Daughter: A Memoir" von A.M. Homes
A. M. Homes // Her lines are a bit like gently floating rivers – you swim along, imagine, dream and then you're being shot at from the dark swamp of the river bed.
The selection of thoughts and emotions that she is willing to work with in her novels and stories - as disturbing as some of them are - make me calm and hopeful that we all might be approaching humanity. http://www.amhomesbooks.com

Philip Roth // Nobody manages to keep it shorter and more to the desirable point than him! And somehow, miraculously, with his novels he has been able to lift the most basic of all male desires – lust – with all it's consequences up onto a rightful and even high-spirited level. Sadly or typically 'The Dying Animal' was the last one of his novels that I really enjoyed!
