I was one of the lucky winners of the LESERUNDE about HIS DARK MATERIALS.

First of all - WOW! What a beautiful special editon. Just awesome.

The stories - well, what should I tell you?

Pullman just wrote an incredible, intelligent trilogy full of 'what if's, Fantasy and critisism.

The three parts are not just a read-it-in-a-short-time thing. Though my english is not so bad, it really took me sometime to go through. Why? Some of the themes in it were just pretty complex and you had to read between the lines. Which is not a bad thing, just took me some time :-)

I guess it is not easy to write sequels of a strong Volume 1 if you intend to write a trilogy. BUT - Pullman did it. With each page coming along the story receives another twist, another aspect, another interesting character. While reading the three books you not only get fantasy, no, you get a whole range of themes you might not expect in the begining.

Also you have such great characters coming along within the story. My favourite - LYRA. (I guess most have the same as me). I think it is amazing how Pullman makes the reader want to join her along this long and fantastic story. There are tons of books where the authors just can't make he reader wanna know what happens next without making them feel a bit dissapointed. Never had the Problem in this book with Lyra. Well, well done!!!

I had some problems with the thin pages and the small letters, but that does not make the book worse - otherwise it might have been twice the size which might have been too much to hold in your hands.

So, I can only recommend this lovely edition. Absolutely WOW!
